Appalachian College of Pharmacy is an institution located in Oakwood, Virginia. The college is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and is the only three-year Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) programs that is available in Virginia. This allows students to graduate a year earlier than those who are enrolled in a more traditional four-year program at other colleges with the same exact number of classroom credit hours, training, degree and credentials that the other students may have. This can give students a big advantage in securing residencies and positions. The Appalachian College of Pharmacy was founded in 2003.
The Appalachian College of Pharmacy offers a Pharm.D. degree and program at the same tuition rate for both in-state and out-of-state residents. Tuition to the school costs $37,000.00 and this includes the tuition and all associated fees. The program offered by the college includes a range of classes that covers clinical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy administration and policies, pharmacology and experiential education. The goal of the experiential education is to bring students into the atmosphere and environment of active pharmacy practices so they can become accustomed in the proper ways to deal with patients and providers of the industry in order to prepare them properly for the future.
