The Medical University of South Carolina, or MUSC, is located in Charleston, South Carolina. The university itself was founded in 1824, making the oldest medical institution in the Southern United States. The College of Pharmacy at the school was founded in 1959 and is one of the most respected residency programs throughout the country. In 2004, the school combined with the University of South Carolina’s pharmacy school to create a school that is a single enterprise statewide and has one of the strongest programs in the country.

Since combining their school with that of the University of South Carolina, the two programs now offer the same types of degrees and work in conjunction with each other to help students develop into some of the finest pharmacists in the region. The college offers degrees as a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. The tuition for the program  is $18,046.00 for an in-state resident and $29,127.00 for an out-of-state resident. Classes offered include programs that provide classroom and laboratory experience to go with experience in real world settings out in the community and at the Medical Center at the university so students can gain insight and knowledge of how to deal with the community itself.
